Women in the Law UK blazes the way for progression for other women in the UK

Long before the Western Circuit Forum for Women Barristers – an excellent idea, we did of course have Women in the Law UK. Set up in 2012 by award winning Barrister Sally Penni, the Vice Chair of the Association of Women Barristers, the intention was to inspire all women and men who believed in gender diversity in the Law and business.
Women in the Law UK is about supporting the next leaders in Law and encouraging career progression through personal development. The next stage is finding a way to progress social mobility in the profession and learning from our colleagues in Business”  Founder – Sally Penni

Based in the home of Pankhurst and supported by the Northern circuit, Manchester, WItLUK’s monthly round table events are popular and oversubscribed. Their Annual Professional Dinners are a sell out. Inspiring junior to senior women, with a mentoring programme, Women in the Law are blazing the way for the future. With distinguished speakers such as Mrs Justice Cox and Lady Justice Hallett its membership and supporters has grown immensely.

Women in the Law UK supports the work of all organisations trying to improve diversity in the Law including, Association of Women Barristers, Urban Lawyers, Association of Women Solicitors Manchester, WILLondon, Trainee Solicitors Group, ILEX, Merseyside Women Lawyers Group, Yorkshire Women Lawyers Group, UK Association of Women Judges, headed by the president Baroness Hale, First 100 years project set up Dana Denis Smith and so on. Advocating collaboration not competition, Women in the Law UK is homed in Manchester but with supported events nationwide it is no wonder its mantra is so appealing to all.
